ALTERNATIVE HEALTH TREATMENTS
A Unique Approach
Thousands of years ago, man relied on plants, herbs and manipulative techniques for healing illnesses and injuries.
Ayurvedic medicine was incredibly advanced at that time.
As time has progressed, more and more drugs were developed and used with great success to assist in healthcare. BUT NOW, people are realising the damaging side-effects of some of these drugs and are increasingly turning to alternative therapies.
The Bowen Technique is a remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform Bowen’s unique set of rolling type moves.
There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no force is used. It is believed that the Bowen technique prompts the body to “reset”, repair and rebalance itself and clients report the experience of pain relief, improvement of function, total relaxation and rejuvenation.
Bowen is a truly holistic treatment; the whole person is treated.
I use a combination of traditional Bowen coupled with NST (Neurostructural integration technique – which aids bodily self-healing) and the Emmett Technique moves to address specific physical and pain issues – as I find that the effects of the treatment in combination are longer lasting.
MASSAGE

Massage is the physical treatment of tissues, muscles, tendons and ligaments. The pressure used in each massage is tailored to suit an individual client.
As well as releasing tension in the tissues of the body, massage stimulates the circulation and lymphatic system, so helping to eliminate waste toxins and boost the immune system.
Massage can also help to:
-
Restore muscle tone,
-
Increase vitality,
-
Promote recovery after injury, and there are many more benefits.
I offer several types of massage – please speak to me about your individual requirements.
AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE

Aromatherapy is an ancient form of natural healing dating back thousands of years.
Aromatherapy massage is the art of using plant essential oils to help restore balance in the body and harmony between the mind and body.
It is an holistic therapy that aims to treat the whole person by taking into account their physical and emotional state – emotions as we know, can have a profound effect on general well-being.
Research into the therapeutic properties and medicinal uses of essential oils started in the 1920s and in the 1950s Marguerite Maury developed specialised aromatherapy massage techniques with an individual prescription of oils selected and blended to suit the individual needs and preferences of the client, both in temperament and health.
Reflexology is a form of natural holistic therapy based on the discovery that there are points on the feet and hands corresponding to organs, systems and structures within the body. The corresponding relationship is called a “reflex” and refers to the phenomenon that stimulation at one point brings about a response in another point or area.
By using special pressure techniques on the reflex points, imbalances and issues are detected and treated, so helping to restore balance and well-being, release areas of tension, relieve feelings of anxiety and stress and also aid sleep
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian head massage (IHM) is a massage therapy that works specifically on the area surrounding the head.
Based on ancient massage and grooming techniques, today’s westernised IHM still involves
treatment of the head area, but also connected areas such as the neck, upper arms, shoulders and upper back – all vulnerable to stress.
The treatment is effective as part of a stress management programme helping to relieve stress, tension, mental fatigue, tired eyes - and can create a feeling of balance and calm.
